— Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning after a six-vehicle crash shut down Interstate 540 West, according to Raleigh police.

All lanes reopened at Falls of Neuse Road by 9:30 a.m. The driver of a Jeep Cherokee lost control, flipped and struck the other vehicles, police said.

One person was taken to Rex Hospital and the other was taken to WakeMed. Their names were not released.

I have to drive on I40 to work. People drive like maniacs. Weaving in and out of traffic going way above the speed limit. It really ticks me off. How many people have to die on that road before people start being a little more careful.

The speed posted is the LIMIT not the starting point.-Gemmas Momma

Yes, and I don't understand some of these comments either. Probably a lot of very young drivers that have not seen or experienced some of the horrific things that can happen when speeding. Take heed all of you Nascar drivers, you might not make it home alive and you might hurt someone else in the process of proving it is all about "you". Some of us have been driving for a VERY LONG TIME and we know what we are talking about.

if your in the far left lane you need to drive faster than the lane next to you and get out of the way if a faster driver is coming up behind you!! I don't drive reckless but 85-90 is comfortable for me...

Hate to burst your bubble but that IS considered reckless driving you incompetant person and a mandatory court appearance also.

All you people exclaiming that people following the LAW, yes that is what a posted speed LIMIT is, have no consideration for anyone but yourselves and are one of the major problems with the US at large. The speed posted is the LIMIT not the starting point. For someone to state that going 10-15 MPH OVER the posted limit is the way everyone should drive is hugely selfish and dangerous. I hope those who do choose to drive that way get the tickets they rightly deserve and have extra insurance to cover the damage they do when they injure other drivers.

Doesn't sound to me like it was someone was going "50" and impeding traffic....sounds more like someone was speeding.

LOL.I agree. Most people have this "it cant/wont happen to me"...but when it does "it wasn't my fault(when it was).

rescuefan - I agree with everything you have said. I call it the "Nascar mentality" -- one more car length. So many like to blame it on relocated northerners but I disagree. At least they (we) understand and appreciate the value of the "zipper rule" and they wave a "thank you" when someone lets them merge in and generally use a turn signal.

I'm a perfect driver. The problem is all the other people on the road. Sound familiar? It's not a race and you don't need to be in front of me. A little thought and consideration from everyone would go a long way to alleviating many of the problems on the road.
