Tractor trailer truck up in flames on I-85 S near Charlotte
A large tractor-trailer was blazing alongside Interstate 85 South near Exit 40 near Charlotte, according to images sent to WRAL News.

Photos show cards driving slowly past the blazing truck, with one witness saying they could hear "whomps" from inside the trailer, presumably as things inside ignited.
The plume of smoke was thick, and the flames appeared quite large. One witness said they were concerned about the flames being a threat to passing vehicles.
One witness said she could feel the heat while passing by in her vehicle on the opposite side, fartherest lane away from the truck.
The truck appeared to be parked towards the middle of the highway, against the concrete barrier, rather than off to the side along the soft shoulder.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
