Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — A tractor-trailer got stuck Wednesday morning under the Peace Street bridge in Raleigh.
The truck tried to drive under the 12-foot-4 bridge and clipped the underside. The roof of the trailer peeled back during the impact.
The railroad bridge has historically been a bane for trucks driving on Peace Street, as several trucks have been caught under the overpass during the last decade.
A similar bridge in Durham has developed a following online as a man set up a camera to film trucks crashing into it. Traffic engineers installed a laser system in 2016 to reduce collisions between tall trucks and the 11-foot, 8-inch bridge near Brightleaf Square.
