Wilson County authorities closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Wilson Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer caught fire near mile marker 123.

No one was injured in the fire, according to State Highway Patrol officials.

Heavy delays are expected in the area until at least 10 a.m. as crews work to move the truck off the highway and clean up the blocked lanes.

Motorists should use U.S. Highway 264 West, at Exit 121, northbound N.C. Highway 581 and northbound N.C. Highway 97 to avoid the closure.

No other information about the cause of the fire was released.

I wonder if the incident was caused by a pothole that is approximately 3 feet long by 1 foot wide by 6 inches deep. If so, DOT had been notified of this several days ago. I-95 is crumbling and no-one is willing to take monies away from Wake, Durham, Alamance, Guilford, Orange, Mecklenburg, Forsyth areas to fix this very heavily traveled road.

That's a pretty long detour. Instead of following US 264 they could turn right on Lamm Rd, right there at the exit, and it's a straight shot to Hwy 97. Probably save 15+ miles.

"all he talked about was 40 hwy"....... amyweston72

At what point in the article, is "40 hwy" mentioned? Is my grammar ok?

i wish when traffic guy who was talking about THIS wreak about 6 this morning could have gave more details about it instead of just telling the mile marker.....all he talked about was 40 hwy
