The sign outside the new Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us store across from Triangle Town Center in north Raleigh still said "coming soon" on Thursday morning.
The store, highly anticipated by a lot of parents and kids, actually opened unofficially last weekend.
The big celebration starts at 9 a.m., Friday, and runs through Sunday with activities, visits from mascots and a lot of sales and deals.
For all the details on the sales and the schedule of events, read my earlier post. Store hours this weekend are 9 a.m. to midnight, Friday; 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday.
Also, if you go, be sure to pick up a circular and coupon sheet when you get there. They were at the front of the store on Thursday morning when I was there.
The store is 59,000 square feet, about 15,000 square feet bigger than the joint Babies "R" Us and Toys "R" Us at Crossroads Plaza in Cary. It's nearly 20,000 square feet bigger than the Babies "R" Us on Capital Boulevard, which closed in May.
Compared to the Cary store, the big difference here is that the Babies "R" Us side, on the left hand side as you walk in the front door, is much bigger.
I took a few pictures this morning. Check the image gallery to take a look at the new store.
And a big shout out to Glen, the manager, for greeting me at the door. He has two young kids, who must think he pretty much has the best job in the world.
