Kenly, N.C. — The Town of Kenly shut off water service to the majority of its customers for about six hours Thursday night following a water main break, according to Johnston County spokeswoman Lu Hickey.
Crews repaired the rupture and returned service to customers about 3 a.m.
Water customers at Interstate 95 interchanges 105 and 106 are not affected, Hickey said.
As a precaution, all Kenly residents should boil their water until bacterial tests are completed, she said.
All users impacted by the water main break should boil water for drinking or consuming (ice makers, brushing teeth, etc.). Water should be boiled at least 3 minutes before being consumed, officials said.
