Tourists, locals not deterred after Paris attacks

Locals and tourists alike are determined not to let Friday's horrific terrorist attacks keep them from doing the things they love.

"I still wanted to come to Paris, and it was too tough to change tickets at the last second," said Nathan Taylor, who is visiting from Los Angeles.

A group of French art students say they love to come out to the gardens to "just chill."

"You've got the sun and the grass, and you're with friends," said Eleonore Planus.

Julian Deshaves agrees. He said the gardens are peaceful.

"We can rest, we can talk, we can get away from what has happened. It has been quite tense, but we can still live peacefully," he said.

Close by, armed military service members and police officers continue to walk the grounds of popular spots carrying large guns.

Two tourists from Miami said the show of force makes them feel safe.

"I am having a great time," said Ashley Moore. "Everything is running smoothly, and there are a lot of beautiful things to see, and I feel pretty safe."

Katame Abrahms' mother does not know she’s in Paris. She advised her daughter to stay home in Miami after the attacks.

"She told me not to come because of the attacks. We had a trip planned...and this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience," she said. "The security is very high here. I feel safe."
