Just a quick addition to our Weekend Plans post.
N.C. State's gymnastics team will host Pitt, UNC-Chapel Hill and William & Mary in a quad meet that starts at 7 p.m., tonight, Friday, Feb. 10, and features lots of activities for kids and families.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the meet at Reynolds Coliseum. Before the meet begins, a Storm Trooper, Belle and Cinderella will be roaming the building, greeting fans. A kids zone will be set up with activities, including face painting.
Kids are invited to wear their Disney character costumes and line up with the characters at the marketing table on the first floor around 6:30 p.m. From there, around 6:45 p.m., they'll be able to walk onto the floor in a parade to welcome the athletes in a fan tunnel with the cheerleaders.
With four teams, there will be continuous action on the floor - kind of Olympics style - with multiple events happening at the same time.
After the meet, which runs about 90 minutes to two hours, the athletes will meet fans and sign autographs.
Tickets are $5 for kids and $7 for adults. More details are on N.C. State's website.
I'll be taking my kids tonight and have heard from several parents who tell me these events are a lot of fun. I'll have more details in the coming weeks. If you go and see me, say hi!
