LUMBERTON, N.C. — Robeson County authorities on Monday were investigating a drive-by shooting in which a 2-year-old boy was wounded.

Tayshawn Walters was listed in serious condition Monday at Duke University Hospital.

Deputies received a call at about 11 p.m. Sunday about a drive-by shooting at 171 Von St., off U.S. Highway 301 in the Saddletree neighborhood north of Lumberton. The home and two cars parked outside had been shot at at least six times, and at least one of the bullets hit the toddler, authorities said.

The home belongs to the boy's grandparents, and he was living there with his father, Montay Walters, his mother, Cherika McKinnon, and his brother, authorities said.

Investigators haven't released details about a motive for the shooting or possible suspects.
