Raleigh, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Wednesday, Aug. 19. Here's what's going on at the state legislature.
BUDGET: With an agreement on how much they will spend set, budget writers can get down to business and decide how they will spend that money. To give them room to work, both the House and the Senate are generally forgoing committee meetings Wednesday, with the exception of House Judiciary I.
HOUSE: The House will meet at 2 p.m. Among the bills on its calendar are a revamp of the state's Medicaid health insurance system for the poor and disabled. This is a House bill returning from the Senate, and the chamber is likely to vote down the Senate changes, which will send the measure to a conference committee to work out a final version.
SENATE: The Senate will meet at 2 p.m. The only bill on its calendar is a measure that would regulate the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, in the state.
