Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources committee considers a bill that would allow Duke Energy to recoup the costs of upgrading the electrical grid and cleaning up coal ash pits sooner (10 a.m., 1124/1224 LB)
Senate Health Care committee takes up a proposal to allow restaurants to reuse oyster shells as serving dishes (10 a.m., 643 LOB)
Senate Education committee debates bills to reduce the amount of testing in schools and to tweak the Read to Achieve comprehension program in early grades (11 a.m., 1027/1128 LB)
Senate Finance committee discusses a tax cut proposal primarily aimed at businesses (1 p.m., 544 LOB)
Senate Commerce and Insurance committee considers legislation to allow electric co-operatives to provide broadband service to their rural customers (2 p.m., 1027/1128 LB)
The House is on its Easter break and has no floor votes scheduled, but the Senate is expected to debate bills on deannexing property in Durham, reworking school disciplinary policies and allowing Superintendent of Public Instruction Mark Johnson to approve bonds for charter school construction when it convenes at 4 p.m.
