Senate leaders say they will roll out their version of a Medicaid reform bill and an economic development plan Thursday morning as steps toward ending a month-long budget impasse.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Thursday, Aug. 6. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and around state government.

SENATE BUDGET TALKS: Senate leaders said Wednesday they would agree to hear bills on Medicaid reform and economic development separately from the state budget. They'll take up both of those bills in committee Thursday. The Senate Finance Committee will take up the economic development package during an 8:30 a.m. meeting. At 9:30 a.m., the Senate Health Care Committee will take up the chamber's Medicaid bill.

HOUSE SESSION: House members are scheduled to complete work on the chamber's $2.85 billion bond proposal. WRAL.com plans to carry the session live at 10 a.m. Check the Video Central box on the homepage.

SENATE SESSION: The Senate meets at 11 a.m.

VRA: Rep. Rodney Moore holds a news conference to mark the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. WRAL.com plans to carry the news conference live at noon. Check the Video Central box on the homepage.

GOVERNOR: Gov. Pat McCrory will drop by the state Board of Transportation meeting. Then, at 11 a.m., he will hold a signing ceremony for Senate Bill 233, a law that will allow for automatic expunctions of a person's record when they are charged due to a case of mistaken identity.
