Legislative Building

— Good morning and welcome to Today @NCCapitol for Thursday, August 27. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and around state government today.

CR: The Senate Appropriations Committee will roll out the third budget extension of the year at 8:30 a.m. The measure will keep government operating until Sept. 18. Leaders in the House and Senate have said they plan to pass the extension by the end of the day today. The extension will give budget negotiators time to fill out a permanent $21.7 billion spending deal, following breakthroughs on worker raises and budget targets Wednesday.

FLOOR SESSIONS: The Senate meets at 10 a.m. and the House meets at 10:15 a.m. In addition to the CR votes, the two chambers are expected to finish work on measure dealing with unemployment benefits and regulating ride sharing services.
