Today @NCCapitol (April 13): Lawmakers back from break

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome Today @NCCapitol for Monday, April 13. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and around state government.

MEDICAID AUDIT: The State Auditor's Office is due to release an audit detailing the financial status of the North Carolina Medicaid program. The Joint Legislative Program Evaluation Committee will review that report during a committee meeting at 3 p.m. The committee is also poised to make an announcement regarding NC GEAR, the governor's government efficiency program.

THE GOVERNOR: Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz and the North Carolina Civil War Center will host a kickoff for a project that will become the foundation of the planned N.C. Civil War History Center: The “100 from 100 – Our State: Our Stories” initiative. The goal is to collect stories from each of the state’s 100 counties. The 3 p.m. reception at the governor's mansion commemorates the 150th anniversary of Raleigh’s occupation by the Union army.

SENATE: The state Senate will hold a skeleton session at 4 p.m. No legislation is on the agenda.

HOUSE: The state House is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. and has two local bills its calendar.

CAMPAIGNS: North Carolina's next governor's race is starting to take shape 19 months before Election Day as fault lines widen between incumbent Republican Pat McCrory and Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper.

SEANC: The former director of the State Employees Association of North Carolina misappropriated nearly $500,000 in credit card charges and unjustified spending, according to an audit released by the organization Saturday.
