RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Thursday, July 16. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and around state government.
DWI: The Senate Judiciary I Committee meets at 10 a.m. and will take up bills toughening driving restrictions for those who have been convicted of driving while impaired, including that they have no alcohol in their system when behind the wheel. THE HOUSE: Members of the House meet for a 10 a.m. session. They have one bill on the calendar dealing with debt collection.
THE SENATE: Members of the state Senate meet at noon. They are scheduled to take up bills regulating autocycles and a second look at bills that would let counties issue no-bid contracts for prison food. WRAL.com plans to carry this meeting live online. Check the Video Central box on the homepage.
THE GOVERNOR: Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to make an economic development announcement in Durham at 11 a.m. More details on the announcement are expected after a 9 a.m. meeting of the Commerce Department's Economic Investment Committee.
