Today@NCCapitol (May 26): Burt's Law to be signed, graffiti on Senate agenda
Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to hold a signing ceremony for a law that would increase the penalties for failing to report sexual abuse in a mental health group home. State senators will consider a bill that could lead to jail time for graffiti artists.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Tuesday, May 26. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and around state government.
SENATE: The state Senate meets at 2 p.m. Among the bills on the calendar is a law that could lead to jail time for those repeatedly convicted of graffiti vandalism. WRAL.com plans to carry this session live. Check the Video Central box on the homepage.
HOUSE: The state House meets at 1 p.m., but no votes are scheduled.
THE GOVERNOR: Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to sign Burt's Law at 11:30 a.m. at the Executive Mansion. The new law will increase the penalties for those who fail to report abuse witnessed in mental health group home settings.
ADVOCATES: The North Carolina arm of Americans for Prosperity hold a news conference on the Capitol grounds at 10 a.m. The group will be announcing a "new policy initiative."
THIS WEEK: Senior senators say it's possible that their budget subcommittees could begin public work on that chamber's version of the budget later this week. The Senate budget will look markedly different from the version passed by the House early Friday morning.
