On their second day of the short session, lawmakers will try to get past the House Bill 2 debate and onto the budget.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Tuesday, April 26. Here's what's going on around the legislature and state government:

HOUSE AND SENATE SESSIONS: The state Senate is scheduled to meet at 9:15 a.m. The state House is scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. Legislative leaders announced Monday night that both of those sessions would be skeleton meetings with no votes.

SENATE FINANCE: The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. Chairman Bill Rabon, R-Brunswick, said Monday night that committee members would get an update on unemployment insurance changes and examine some bills left unfinished at the end of the 2015 session.

HOUSE BILL 2: After protests for and against House Bill 2 marked the first day of the short session, a group of rabbis opposed to the bill will hold a news conference and hold a Passover service at the Legislative Building.

ICYMI: Lost in the fracas surrounding the first day of session, a federal judge ruled late Monday that North Carolina's voter ID law is constitutional and should be allowed to go into effect.
