RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today @NCCapitol for Monday, August 3. Here's what's going on around the General Assembly today.
HOUSE: Members of the state House are scheduled to give final legislative approval to the ABLE Act, a bill that allows parents to put money in a tax-advantaged savings account to provide for their children with developmental disabilities. The accounts are similar to 529 college saving plans. A positive vote Monday night will send the measure to Gov. Pat McCrory for his signature. The chamber is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m.
SENATE: The state Senate will have a no-vote skeleton session at 1:30 p.m. but not take up any business until 7 p.m. One of the three bills on the senators calendar would make posting intimate pictures of someone without their consent, so-called revenge porn, a felony. That measure has been the subject of much debate and three floor amendments so far.
