Tir na Nog closing; Bida Manda owners taking over space
Big changes are ahead for Moore Square area in downtown Raleigh. Tir na Nog owner Pete Pagano announced late Monday that he would be closing the Irish pub on Nov. 22.

Tir na Nog has been open 18 years.
"As the owner, I always felt that the pub belonged more to the community than it did to me. It was certainly a business venture but more importantly a gathering place for those in the area. Our goal has always been to serve as the living room of our community, but as life continues to move forward priorities sometimes change. I love the pub from the bottom of my heart but think it is now time for a new adventure. I have two small children, an infinitely patient wife, and I want to spend more time with them," Pagano wrote in a post on the pub's Facebook page.
The Nolinthas said the new venture is an extension of their love and commitment to the Moore Square neighborhood.
Woodson, son of North Carolina State University Chancellor Randy Woodson, has been an avid home brewer. The younger Woodson and the Nolinthas have been in talks to open a brewery production facility on Bloodworth Street.
"It is very important to me that the space continues to be a gathering place shared by the community and fortunately this is going to happen," Pagano wrote.
