BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police said a 53-year-old pedestrian was intoxicated when he was hit by a car Friday in Burlington.

The incident happened about 7 p.m. in the intersection of Rauhut and Hatch streets. Burlington police said Carlton Crutchfield was walking west across Rauhut Street when he was hit by a 1999 Chrysler traveling south on the roadway.

Crutchfield was taken by helicopter to UNC Hospital. His condition was not released.

The driver of the car, identified as Micah Jasper, 28, of Burlington, and his passenger were unhurt.
