— Garner police say a tipster led them to the arrest of a suspect in the robbery of a bank off U.S. Highway 70 Friday.

Officers arrested Dannie Simon Parker, 38, of 312 Tryon Road in Raleigh, Saturday afternoon. He was charged with common-law robbery.

Investigators said the tipster called them Saturday morning after seeing surveillance pictures of the bank robber on a local media Web site.

"They saw the picture and immediately recognized who they thought to be Mr. Parker," Investigator Amy Miller said. "Without this tip, it would have been a difficult case to solve."

Officers searched a building at what was listed as Parker's home address and seized money and clothing.

Witnesses told police that a man entered the Fifth-Third Bank, at 1145 U.S. 70 West in Garner, around 4:40 p.m. Friday. He handed a teller a note demanding money, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot toward Timber Drive.

Parker was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond Sunday afternoon.

    I completely agree.

My bf and I joke about it all the time, if we recognize someone, we will be turning them in, "so they can get the help they need" (line from the movie RV) and we can collect the reward.

He must not KNOW it is close to Christmas, job market terrible, if a reward is being offered for anything, you had better be real good at what you do, and hope nobody can recognize you. People with this economy will turn in their own mom for the reward.
