Second Time Warner outage in two weeks resolved

Posted January 7, 2016

— For the second time in two weeks, Time Warner Cable customers in North Carolina experienced an outage Thursday afternoon.

According to Scott Pryzwansky with Time Warner Cable, an issue with a router affected TV, internet, and phone services for a portion of the afternoon. He said the outage lasted for 55 minutes and did not affect all customers as different areas are served with different routers.

"We sincerely apologize for the outage that affected some of our Carolinas customers earlier this afternoon," said Prywansky in a statement. "We know that our customers depend on us for reliable, high-quality service, and we will continue to work hard to deliver the kind of service customers expect and deserve from us."

On Dec. 27, residential and business customers throughout the state were without service for several hours.

I wonder if this has anything to do with TWC potentially having been hacked recently?

this outage was very bad. customers with fiber and SLAs were out also. looks like all that talk from the TWC corporate reps about no single point of failure and multiple redundancies at all levels was not so truthful. todays outage I say for most business users dedicated fiber from TWC is a waste at over 300-1000% increased cost over their cable based products. unless u need real guaranteed bandwidth the fiber connections are not really that more reliable. as evidenced today in the cape fear region.

It's probably just because they are putting all of their efforts into securing their data systems and need extra people working there instead of on the equipment. Oh wait, they had 300,000 accounts stolen today too! Never mind. #WorstCompanyOnThePlanet

Try 2nd outage in 2 days...ours is out at least every other day, sometimes every day. We used to have AT&T and it was NEVER out. NEVER. I doubt we will be with TWC much longer.

How does a major internet provider bring down a whole state's internet service twice in 2 weeks? No warning, no explanation. Seriously, I've worked in IT for over twenty years - these outages have a cause that should be conveyed to the paying customers. Someone's head should roll. No backup plan? No program for failover? How is this company even licensed to be an internet provider?

I have never gotten solid customer service. The last time I tried to get them to correct my bill it took 3 months, 11 phone calls (I recorded every reference number) I was promised 3 phone calls back from a supervisor and never received one, one trip to an office location I was given that no longer existed, a second trip that resulted in a almost 3 hour wait, on my 11th call I finally got a supervisor on the phone and we had spoken for exactly 2 minutes when he apologized and said he had a meeting and asked if he could call me back? I laughed and told him that was the funniest thing I had heard. He didn't call me back but had someone else do it who immediately corrected the error. I spent numerous hours on the phone and at the office for a very simple billing correction. Just the mere mention of their name makes me nauseous. I stream all my cable now and only use their high speed internet. I can't wait until another company can match their speed.

So, we either get solid internet service with abusive customer service, or we get solid customer service with horrible internet service?

    Way to go #TWCFail
