Time Warner Cable phone customers experiencing outages

— About 500,000 Time Warner Cable customers are experiencing phone outages, according to a company spokesman.

"There's a technical issue preventing about 11 percent of phone customers placing or receiving calls on an intermittent basis," spokesman Scott Pryzwansky said Sunday night.

It's unclear how many of those outages are in the Triangle area. Pryzwansky said the outage spans across the TWC service area.

"Our engineers are working on the problem and are restoring service as quickly as possible," he added, although he did not give a timeframe on when the service might be restored.

    What is the problem with TWC? They are a large organization and I'm sure that they do have some competent people working for them. Why can't they resolve the problems for their customers?

    Seems that my internet connection is affected, too... Sure seems to be very slow at retrieving my email. But, at least its working!

    Unfortunately, many people cancelled their land lines due to the "walmart" mentality to save a few $$ in the short term with no thought of the long term.

    Huh, what's "long term" about a land line? I gave up a land line 6 years ago, my cell is my only phone. Why pay for two phone services? That is why land line use is declining, especially among younger people. Very few people under 35 have a land line.....they rightfully think its kind of dumb to pay for a line you don't need. BTW, I am no where close to under 35....

    Only land line I can get now is thru Frontier (wth???). Over $60 a month for Verizon but it was great having reliable service. Unfortunately, many people cancelled their land lines due to the "walmart" mentality to save a few $$ in the short term with no thought of the long term. Now internet phone prices are creeping up while landline prices increase due to decreasing subscribers. Eventually, we'll be paying the same or even more for much less reliable service.

    I switched from TWC over a year ago and don't miss them at all. I have had no issues with AT&T U-verse, Internet or Phone. It may cost a little more but I have received excellent service, the same can't be said for my experiences with TWC.

    i hate TWC. I have never had anything but issues with them. Whether, its tv or internet. The speed is always horrible or not working at all. Plus for their price, its ridiculous

    I'm a new customer of twc here in Mebane and service is still going in and out.But yet for last 3 weeks i been having issue with phone and when i call they say someone will be out what a joke i waited all day with a no show then when i call they have no records of any order...TWC sucks and they won't be seeing any payment but for the cable.

    Been a land line subscriber for over 35 years, I can only recall it going down once during Hurricane Fran, it was back up and running in less than 24 hours.

    Still got my analog line and the only time I lost service was a week into the mess from Hurricane Fran.
