Time Warner Cable deals with major Internet outage in Carolinas

— Time Warner Cable reported a major outage in its Internet service in the Carolinas on Wednesday. 

TWC spokesman Keith Poston said that during some routine software maintenance overnight, there was an issue that impacted Internet and some TV service around 6 a.m. 

Poston said all services were restored a little after 9 a.m. and the company was working to ensure it wouldn't happen again.

    Time Warner's Service in Western NY is WAY BETTER. There were laws put in place when they took over the small community cable companies.. No credit checks are ever allowed, service calls are free, and if you have a problem, they didn't tell you to trot you as* to a Time Warner retail location and replace it yourself, they came TO YOUR DOOR. Oh, and it was cheaper. The Boxes are horrible, the remotes are flimsy, and they LIED to me when I moved to NC. They told me the rules were different in NC, and I HAD TO GET A CONTRACT with them, and since I had no problems with TW in NY, I didn't see a problem. Now I do, and when My contract is up... See ya later Time Warner. I pay you 160.00 a month for some of the worst service ever.

    my complaint with TWC is that their boxes are horrible. I want to swap companies exclusively for this reason.

    TWC ... I wished I had other options ... poor customer service and inferior cable and internet performance ... their solution ... reboot ... god help me

    customer service depends on two things: your attitude and the person that happens to answer the phone

    if i get a robot then i politely hang up and call again until i find someone who has intelligence

    I keep reading comments complaining about customer service. If you even have to call customer service, you're already frustrated. DirecTV always has very high customer service ratings. The reason is most of their customers don't have to call customer service. There are a handful of bad installers they contract with. But the bulk of them are very good and very professional. Whether you like their service or not will start with who your installer was. I've been a customer since 1994 and think I've only called customer service 2 or 3 times. Each time my issue was resolved or my question was answered. If its installed properly, it works properly. Now, there are technology challenged customers. I'm not one of them. Maybe that explains it.

    Sorry to hear that. But it wasn't DirecTV that'sucked' as you stated. It was your installer. If the installation isn't done properly, you will have tons of problems. Its the same with any product. I've had DirecTV since late 1994. Had my receivers and dish upgraded twice since then. I watched and made sure I was setup properly when it was done. Love it and can't fathom switching to any other service. If you're a sports fan, DirecTV is your ONLY option.

    TW is still enjoying business in Wilson NC even thought that
    city as there own county community provider. In any event I
    called from Wilson to say my cable was out and I think the service
    lady was in Mexico,not sure though.
