It's time to sign up for Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's popular middle school science club.

This program, which Morehead has offered before, gives middle schoolers an opportunity to investigate the science of robots, get their hands dirty dissecting a shark or learn more about what makes each of us unique. Kids will get a chance to explore a variety of scientific interests, meet with real scientists, take field trips and take part in all kinds of hands-on activities.

Meetings run from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on five Saturdays in the fall and six Saturdays in the winter and spring. The classes are capped at 24 students. Three Morehead educators lead each section. Snacks are provided at the meeting with a pizza party at the end. Tuition is $290.

Morehead's website has more information. Morehead Planetarium is in Chapel Hill.

At last check, the spots were going pretty quickly.
