Tickets for Pullen Park's Holiday Express on sale now

Posted August 8, 2013

Carolers at Pullen Park for its Holiday Express

I know, I know. School isn't even back in session for traditional calendar schools and I'm already talking about Christmas.

I not a lover of the so-called Christmas creep myself, but here's the deal: Tickets for Pullen Park's very popular Holiday Express event went on sale July 31 and already more than 450 tickets have been sold. Last year's event sold out.

Holiday Express features a transformed Pullen Park, which is lit up with holiday lights and displays. The evenings include a lighted train ride, local entertainment, concessions, carousel rides, crafts and a visit with Santa.

To respond to the high demand, Raleigh parks added an extra weekend this year. Tickets (or armbands, really) are $8 each for everybody age 2 and up. Kids under 2 are admitted for free. Armbands can be purchased and reserved online through RecLink or by signing up at any parks and recreation facility.

The dates for this year's event are Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 and Dec. 13 to Dec. 15. The hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. One thing to note if you're buying your armbands early: They can be transferred to another night as long as space is available.

Merry Christmas!

    Checking on it @sweetart ...

If you're searching for it on RecLink, click on the link above, then click on "activities," then click on "advanced search," (which you'll find right above the picture of kids jumping into a lake), then search for Pullen Park, then key in the date you want and type in "Holiday Express" for your keyword and hit "search." That should pull it up. Now if you've never registered on RecLink before, you'll need to get a family pin number, which can take a day or two if memory serves.

To figure out how to do that, go back to that original link for RecLink and scroll to the bottom of the page where you'll see something that says "getting ready."

Or you can go to any Raleigh park and rec community center and buy your tickets there. Find locations here:

I hope that helps. And yes ... it could be easier.
