Thursday Wrap: Monitoring budget progress

— We would love to be able to tell you about all the new agreements budget negotiators reached Thursday, but most of what the @NCCapitol team heard from lawmakers we learned Wednesday.

Gov. Pat McCory signed a continuing resolution keeping the government operating through Sept. 18{{/a}}, even as key lawmakers say budget negotiations have made as more progress in the past 48 hours than in the past six months.

We did learn that some agreement is in the works to save the state's publicly-funded drivers education program{{/a}}.

    Don't worry, they will make sure the deduct the cost overruns from education. They'll find a way to blame the nonexistent teachers' union.

    I feel that the cost of "extra time" for them to do their job should be deducted from their paychecks.
