Raleigh, N.C. — After heated debate, the House gave its final approval to bills blocking the expansion of the state Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act and allowing transportation planners to consider a controversial highway route through Garner.
Meanwhile, a Senate panel considered a bill that would exempt gun permit information from state public records laws. The measure will be brought back again later for a vote.
Also, former "The Price is Right" host Bob Barker has sent a letter to the Senate asking them to defeat a House bill that would permit the New Year's Eve Possum Drop to continue in the mountain crossroads community of Brasstown.
