Thursday Wrap: Incentives debate could resurface
The $90 million in state incentives to attract MetLife to North Carolina is sure to raise eyebrows among lawmakers, with many Republicans critical of handouts to major corporations.

Pat McCrory and House Speaker Thom Tillis were celebrating MetLife's decision to locate major operations in Cary and Charlotte, the House was busy passing Caylee's Law, legislation that would make it a crime for people not to report a missing child in a timely manner. The bill is named after Caylee Anthony, the Florida toddler who disappeared in 2008 and was later found dead.
Meanwhile, the Senate gave final approval to a bill that would allow transportation planners to once again consider a controversial highway route through Garner. The Senate tacked a provision removing three toll-road projects from the N.C. Turnpike Authority, so the House needs to concur with the change before it can go to McCrory.
