RALEIGH, N.C. — The Senate is gearing up to shut down committee work next week in preparation for the end of the legislative session, so it has scheduled a rare Friday session to help clear the decks.

On Thursday, the Senate gave final approval to a bill reinstating restrictions on registered sex offenders, and a group of Democratic senators pushed for legislation banning gun sales to people on anti-terror watch lists.

The House gave preliminary approval to a measure that would exempt police body camera and dashboard camera videos from public disclosure under state open records laws. A House committee passed a bill that would require schools statewide be tested for lead in drinking water.
