The Senate Appropriations Committee approved legislation that would void Raleigh's lease for the 325-acre site, but not before Sen. Tom Apodaca, R-Henderson, exchanged sharp words with Jim Goodmon, the president of WRAL's parent company, who spoke against tearing up the lease on behalf of a group that supports Raleigh's plan to create a major park on the Dix site.

Meanwhile, the House remained in recess for hours Thursday afternoon while Republican caucus leaders explained how they had miscounted the votes in Wednesday's election of eight Board of Governors members. They they spent more time recounting the ballots to correct the error.

In case you FORGOT the land was given for mental health, what part of mental health does a park fall under? Yet some of you people will be the first to complain when the overflow ends up on the streets/your front door. Let get real use the land for what it's suppose to be used for. If you gave the land and said use it for this and then it was used for something else, how would you feel? Come on people do the right thing.
