Thursday wrap: Crossover deadline
The crossover deadline passed Thursday with little last-minute panic, with the Senate leaving town before noon and the House adjourning before 3 p.m.
Posted — UpdatedThe House passed a measure that would prohibit health plans on North Carolina's insurance exchanges from offering abortion coverage, as well as a proposal to ban the recognition of Islamic Sharia law.
Crossover is the self-imposed deadline that lawmakers use to set a deadline for non-budget bills to clear either the House or Senate. Bills that don't meet the deadline can still be revived, however.
Meanwhile, the House rolled out its tax reform plan Thursday as anti-tax activist Grover Norquist visited Raleigh to praise the Senate proposal.
