Three rob The Pit restaurant in Durham

Posted May 19, 2014

— Durham police are investigating an armed robbery Sunday night at The Pit, a popular barbecue restaurant.

Police said three armed men entered the business, at 321 W. Geer St., through the back door around 8:50 p.m.

Surveillance video showed the men, who were wearing hoods, ordering employees to the ground and hitting one in the face with what appeared to be a gun. The robbers then went into an office, stole money and left out the restaurant's front door.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash for information leading to arrests, and callers may remain confidential.

The restaurant's owner is also offering a $2,000 reward for information in the case.

Jared Lee Loughner is listed in there as killing six people with his CCH/CCW permit. The problem is, he didn't have one... The list you provided is clearly suspect.

Yes..this place is posted...They advertise they are a target rich environment for those bent on committing criminal acts.
Yes ..I hope they catch them and prosecute them within the fullest extent of the law.
Yes..I am glad no one was seriously hurt.
Yes...I have been there...and Yes I have complied with their posted sign.

And yes...I am asking myself...self...By posting these signs, are they owners accepting full and total responsibility for my (and my families) protection while I visit their establishment. I mean from a strict sense of denying me an option for self defense, are they taking on the responsibility..and the answer to me is yes.

And NO..this does not mean we need more laws regarding firearms.

The big NO CONCEALED HANDGUNS sign on the front door let the robbers know it was a safe place to rob. Those silly signs are just advertisements for robbers.

Does The Pit allow customers to bring their lawful firearms, or have they put up the non firearms signs?
