TARBORO, N.C. — One person was killed and two others were injured Wednesday night in a shooting at a mobile home park near Tarboro, officials with the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office said.

Officers responding to a shooting call around 9:15 p.m. found three black males with gunshot wounds at the Midlake Mobile Home Park on Midlakes Lane off U.S. Highway 64.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two were transported to Vidant Edgecome Hospital in Tarboro, police said. Authorities also confirmed that one of the men taken to the hospital was the alleged shooter.

The names and conditions of all three men were not released. Investigators would not say how many people were shot, but markers at the scene suggest at least a half dozen shell casings were recovered.

No other information was released.
