— One person was killed and two others were injured Wednesday night in a shooting at a mobile home park near Tarboro, officials with the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office said.

Officers responding to a shooting call around 9:15 p.m. found three black males with gunshot wounds at the Midlake Mobile Home Park on Midlakes Lane off U.S. Highway 64.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two were transported to Vidant Edgecome Hospital in Tarboro, police said. Authorities also confirmed that one of the men taken to the hospital was the alleged shooter.

The names and conditions of all three men were not released. Investigators would not say how many people were shot, but markers at the scene suggest at least a half dozen shell casings were recovered.

No other information was released.

Hip-Shot, so true Midlakes used to be a well kept family park with strict standards, it now has abandoned old trailers out on the main road and seems to be very neglected. it's a shame how much it has gone down hill in the past few years.

Parks are like any other rental property. The tennants get away with what ever the landlord allows.

So how is arming the public working out so far? fayncmike

Doin well so far, better that trying to rehab criminals. Besides, isn't this what happens in trailer parks anyway?

Actually, I grew up in on a farm, and we had 280 acres of land, but it was also 40 mins from town. We had a trailer in a MHP that was in town and closer to school and it was actually very nice, kept up very well, and my neighbors had all of their teeth. So maybe we should stop judging books by their covers.

"I can't imagine any mobile home park is a nice place to live" --- why? You really think the STRUCTURE you live in makes a difference? I've been to some very very nice Mobile home parks. FYI ~ Not all trailer homes have trash in them.

Obamacare has risen....actually at one time, MidLakes Mobile Home Park was a very nice place to live. But sadly, the t hugs and drugs made thier way into the neighborhood.

I pass by there every time I go to Tarboro. It's sad how that place has deteriorated.

I lived in a MHP that was lovely with not a lot of homes because the owners were, let's say, picky about who got in. I never had a problem. I'll keep my opinion to myself only to say I suspect one of two...
