LA GRANGE, N.C. — Authorities in Lenoir County were searching Sunday for a suspect after the bodies of three people were found overnight at a home, authorities said.

Police were called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. after someone in the area heard gunfire at a building located at 308 W. Queen Street in La Grange, N.C., authorities said in a written statement.

When sheriff's deputies arrived at the location they found the three victims, who died at the scene, authorities said. A fourth victim was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. All of the victims had been shot, according to law enforcement officials.

The condition of the fourth victim was not immediately available early Sunday. Police have not yet publicly identified the victims.

“Our prayers go out to the victims’ families for their loss," Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram said in the statement. "We are in the beginning stages of this investigation. Our detectives are working to piece together information gathered at the scene.”

An online search shows a single-family home is located at the address provided by law enforcement authorities.

A motive for the slayings was not publicly disclosed.

The sheriff's office asked anyone with information to contact law enforcement authorities.
