SANFORD, N.C. — Two men were seriously injured after three motorcycles crashed in Sanford on Saturday evening.

Troopers say three family members – Daniel Wade Gautier, 48, Jonathan Kent Gilmore, 27 and Bradley Gene Proctor, 25 – were riding their motorcycles near the intersection of John Rosser Road and Patchetts Creek Lane just before 6 p.m.

Gautier and Gilmore were slowing down to make a left turn. Proctor was driving behind them at a high rate of speed and failed to slow down enough, troopers said, causing him to hit the other two motorcycles and throw everyone off their bikes.

Gautier was not injured. Gilmore and Proctor were airlifted to Duke University Hospital with serious injuries.

Charges were pending. No other information was released.
