Three injured in two-car wreck near Vass

At least three people were injured early Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, when two cars collided on N.C. Highway 690 in Vass, authorities said.

— At least three people were injured early Thursday when two cars collided on N.C. Highway 690 in Vass, authorities said. 

The wreck happened at about 7 a.m. near the Lakebay Road intersection, which is east of downtown Vass near Fort Bragg. 

Two people were airlifted from the scene, and another was taken to FirstHealth Hospital in Pinehurst. No information about injuries has been released, and it wasn't clear what caused the wreck.

N.C. 690 was shut down for more than an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.

State Highway Patrol officials are investigating the wreck.
