Three Goldsboro men accused of robbing motel

Goldsboro police arrested three men early Monday in connection with an armed robbery at the Country Hearth Motel, 708 Corporate Drive.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police arrested three men early Monday in connection with an armed robbery at the Country Hearth Motel, 708 Corporate Drive.

William Earl Warren Jr., 20, Joseph Decore Simms, 21, and Aaron Allen Goss, 17, are accused of robbing the motel at gunpoint, then bounding the desk clerk and forcing him into a storage room, according to police. 

Officer J. R. Anderson spotted the men at Ash Street and Jefferson Avenue after the robbery was reported around 3:15 a.m.

"Anderson made contact with them and determined that two of the subjects had active warrants," police said in a statement. "Officer Anderson was able to uncover evidence linking (all three) subjects to the robbery, and they were placed under arrest"

The men were charged as follows:

William Earl Warren Jr., 315 E. Walnut St.

  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Kidnapping
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Assault with a deadly weapon

Joseph Decore Simms, 907B S. Audubon Ave.

  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Kidnapping
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Assault on a female (outstanding warrant)

Aaron Allen Goss, 510 Green Drive

  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Kidnapping
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Probation violation (outstanding warrant – probation absconder)
