Police have arrested three people in the shooting death five months ago of a Raleigh man outside his home.

Marcos Gabriel Chapparo, 20, Erick Pardo Martinez, 17, and Karen Alexis Gonzalez, 18, were arrested Tuesday evening on charges of murder in the death of Alfonso Canjay Rincon, 42.

Investigators say Rincon was shot in the 6100 block of Foxhall Village Drive while, they believe, he was looking for two men whom he saw peering into a neighbor's car sometime before 1 a.m. on Oct. 31.

Authorities say they believe Rincon had been awakened by a noise and had told his family to call 911 before he left to investigate.

Witnesses told police that while he was gone, the two men were spotted again near his home in a dark-colored sedan.

The case is still under investigation, a Raleigh police spokesman said in an email Tuesday night. He offered no other details about the arrests.

I find Lilgtogirl's comment appalling. "This state either needs to get a handle on the problem with minorities or make gun ownership easier for those of us who can hold a job and live by the law."

You have assigned the state the task of protecting the interests "of those of us who can hold a job and live by the law." Who are the good upstanding white people you refer to here: Ken Lay? Bernie Madoff? Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols? Why do their actions not color your view of white people? And who are those scary minorities of which you speak: Colorblind lifeguards? Good drivers? People who know how to use apostrophes correctly?

As a white woman, I know that I am statistically more likely to have something to fear from a white man---and probably one I already know--- than from anyone else. Maybe you could throw around the racist cant somewhere else.

You do not speak for me.

I hope they get sent to prison here. If they're deported, they'll just sneak across the border again in a few weeks""

I saw no mention of their citizenship status? why would you assume they were not US citizens?""

Perhaps the poster you responded to employed simple logic....

To: Mom120 & NiceNSmooth, Today's N&O page 2B. Federal Immigration officials have placed a detainer on Erick Pardo Martinez because they think the Mexico native is in this country illegally, court records show. Commom_Sensey, I agree with you!!!!!

are they illegal?
