ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A fight over a woman sparked a shooting Tuesday in which two men and a teenager were charged, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Maj. Bruce Temple said Wednesday that deputies found a wounded man lying on the living room floor of a home in the Brigman Street area.

The man, whose name wasn't released, had been shot several times in the torso, Temple said. An update on his condition wasn't available.

Deputies arrested Troy Herring, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, and a 15-year-old, while a third suspect – Jonah Powell, 18, of Roanoke Rapids – later surrendered to authorities. All three face a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Powell was given a $50,000 secured bond, and Herring a $25,000 bond. The teenager, whose name wasn't released, was placed in custody in Greenville.

All three suspects were scheduled to appear in court on March 16.
