— A fight over a woman sparked a shooting Tuesday in which two men and a teenager were charged, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Maj. Bruce Temple said Wednesday that deputies found a wounded man lying on the living room floor of a home in the Brigman Street area.

The man, whose name wasn't released, had been shot several times in the torso, Temple said. An update on his condition wasn't available.

Deputies arrested Troy Herring, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, and a 15-year-old, while a third suspect – Jonah Powell, 18, of Roanoke Rapids – later surrendered to authorities. All three face a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Powell was given a $50,000 secured bond, and Herring a $25,000 bond. The teenager, whose name wasn't released, was placed in custody in Greenville.

All three suspects were scheduled to appear in court on March 16.

anything I might add would suggest race so I guess I'm not allowed to have any opinion on this situation. I would like to have a comment from our local NAACP president.........

You could be right, but I highly doubt it, so I'm sticking by my comment.

You people with the negative post make me ill. How do you know that the parents of these players are not hard working Christian people that have tried to raise them right but they are just plain bad apples. To judge these boys parents is not fair.

Chances are taxpayers are taking care of these boys mamas, now we'll be taking care of them for the rest of their miserable lives. Isn't it nice to be a tax paying citizen in this lovely state.

This is sad they should have been home reading a book and doing homework if they had any. I am praying for the young man who was shot and the families of the individuals who shot him.
