— Three Cary schools were locked down briefly Tuesday morning following an armed robbery at a nearby department store.

Cary police Capt. Don Hamilton said the robbery happened at Sears in the Cary Town Center, which is near Cary High School. Witnesses reported the robber drove away on Walnut Street, in the direction of the school.

A spokesman with Wake County public schools said Adams Elementary, East Cary Middle and Cary High schools were placed under a code yellow lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown went into effect shortly before 11 a.m. and was quickly lifted, the spokesman said.

No injuries were reported.

It is you that is unaware NoMoreObama and Miketroll. I hope it does not happen to either of you but people who think like you are victims. You end up being the victims of crimes because you think that the Cary in your mind is the same Cary that you live in. You make it easy for the bad element in Cary to steal from you. The fact is that many crimes reported in Cary involve perverts preying on children, murderer, and robberies. You can just search headlines on this website and see that this is true.

"That has to be one of the most pathetic ignorant posts of the day. Statistics dictate the exact oposite. Educate yourself before making such foolish comments."

You beat me to it miketroll3572 -- I totally agree. The mere fact that "Cary" is in a headline brings about a lot of looney comments. Cary is as safe as anyhere else....and safer that others.

This happens in Cary all the time. If its not violent crimes involving weapons, its attacks on kids or stealing of some kind. Cary in one of the most dangerous towns in NC. I would bet that the criminals are citizens of the town as well!

There are two not so great parts of Cary, and that is one of them. It's just a small area near the vicinity of the mall, but it houses a lot of lower income folks, and where they're at usually crime follows closely behind. It's just a fact, don't get angry at me.

You can believe they were headed back to Durham. Just set-up roadblocks on all roads leading to Durham, case solved!

A robbery and lockdown in Cary? If this were Durham the anti-Durham zealots would be all over the place.
