Power restored to thousands in south Raleigh

Raleigh, N.C. — UPDATE: 7:51 a.m.: Duke Energy said power has been restored to thousands of customers in south Raleigh.
Thousands of homes and businesses in southern Raleigh were without power Saturday morning.
The Duke Energy website at 7 a.m. showed outages for more than 6,000 customers who straddle Interstate 40. Duke said the outage was caused by animals damaging equipment.
The power company estimated the lights would be back on by 9:45 a.m.
