RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake Technical Community College has called in beekeepers to help rid the school of bees.

Wake Tech spokeswoman Laurie Clowers said Monday thousands of bees had been isolated to one tree on the school's main campus off U.S. Highway 401.

A faculty member noticed the nest Monday and reported it to the school.

No one has been stung, but officials wanted the bees gone so they don't create a problem.

Beekeepers removed the hive Monday afternoon and estimated it contained 5,000 bees. They plan to keep the bees to make honey.
