Thousands arrested in 'Booze It and Lose It'

In two weeks, the state Department of Transportation has reported more than 2,000 DWI arrests as part of the “Booze it and Lose it” campaign.

CLAYTON, N.C. — In two weeks, the state Department of Transportation has reported more than 2,000 DWI arrests as part of the “Booze it and Lose it” campaign.

Statewide, authorities issued more than 62,000 criminal and traffic citations, with statistics from the Labor Day weekend still to come.

In Johnston County, a checkpoint at N.C. Highway 42 and Amelia Church Road employed 25 officers from state, county and local agencies to nab more than 50 people Saturday night.
