Gov. Pat McCrory

— During a trip to Asheville Monday, Gov. Pat McCrory spoke to the Council of Independent Business Owners.

He used the event to talk his policies, highlighting a recent tax reform bill and defending other changes he has signed into law. According to the Mountain Xpress website, he went on to blast his critics.

“This is too complex for the journalists,” McCrory said, to laughter from the CIBO members. “They don't have economics degrees. They've not been in business. I respect them greatly, but you get it. This is what we have to do to rebuild our economy. It's not easy. I empathize with the people being impacted, but my goal is to get these people back into jobs.”

It may be worth noting that McCrory's campaign website says he graduated from "Catawba College in Rowan County, where he earned degrees in Education and Political Science." There's no mention of an economics degree.

"I empathize with the people being impacted, but my goal is to get these people back into jobs.”

[ardon me Gov. but if they're the jobs you're creating - low wages, no insurance, taking home barely above poverty wages (if that) then paying higher taxes so your richie rich cronies can skate by without paying their fare share - then thanks but no thanks - real people do not want to be your serfs and will vote you out next term

Wow, I thought pubs hated elitists.

Isn't it rush that says the libs talk down to the common person and libs believe regular folks don't have the aptitude to care for themselves.

Why won't the Governor just come out and say: "I'm the Governor, I can hire whomever I want, and pay them whatever I want." After all, we all know that's exactly what happened. All this about "these were the best qualified applicants" is simply too clever by half.

But it won't matter come 2016, when Pat McCrony can head back to Charlotte and we'll be talking about Gov. Roy Cooper.

"Maybe I am not understanding you."

    No 'maybe' about it.

I don't know how folks keep defending McCrory's economic viewpoints and advisors. They obviously are not that good, if they think hiring twenty-somethings to important job posts without opening the job to other hires at 85,000 dollars is good policy.

"Well, based on the reporting, bias and grammar typical of this site, he may just have a point."

Maybe I am not understanding you. It sounds like you are basing McPope's response solely on what you see on WRAL and GOLO. That would be a grave error. WRAL and GOLO does not represent the entire US, all reporters, or all citizens. If the only place you get your news is here, you should learn to check other news outlets.
