Third suspect arrested in fatal motel shooting

U.S. marshals and Henderson police officers arrested a third suspect Monday in the June 14 shooting at a Henderson motel that killed one man and injured two others.

RALEIGH, N.C. — U.S. marshals and Henderson police officers arrested a third suspect Monday in the June 14 shooting at a Henderson motel that killed one man and injured two others.

Jerrell Wimbush, 19, of 607 McBorne St., is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of David Hicks, 22, at the America's Best Value Inn, 200 Parham Road.

Brooks Montel Jones, 19, of 1644 S. Lynnbank Road in Kittrell, and Tevin Lee Daye, of Oakridge Church Road in Kittrell, also face murder charges.

All three suspects are being held in the Vance County Jail without bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Wimbush and Jones were both put on probation in the past year for drug possession.
