FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville detectives have charged a third suspect in the shooting death of a teenager.

Akeem Braithwaite, of Raeford, surrendered to authorities Thursday and was charged with first-degree murder for the death of 18-year-old Jourdhan Phillips.

Investigators said Phillips was killed May 6 after a gunman shot into the car he was riding in from another car.

Two other men have been charged in connection with the crime. Keonte Purcell of Raeford was arrested in late May. He is also charged with first-degree murder.

Terrance McLaughlin was arrested May 16 and charged with accessory after the fact.
