Posted May 8, 2012

— The third shooting in Goldsboro in five days left one person injured Monday afternoon.

Jaquan Dennis, 19, of Goldsboro, told police that an unknown person shot him in the foot as he was standing in the parking lot at 300 W. Grantham St. around 4 p.m., said Sgt. Paige Learnard.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Goldsboro Police Investigator Doug Bethea at 919-580-4214 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that solve crimes.

On Sunday, a man was shot in the Jefferson Street area. His name, condition and other details of the shooting haven't been released.

Last Thursday, Khyrie Roberts, 21, was killed in a drive-by shooting in the parking lot of the Madison Market on Holly Street.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.

It may spread to the outside of the city limits but the demographics are so different in the "country" of Wayne County, that the shooters will become the ones being shot. I think it's all terrible.. but who truly has any good suggestions to solve this issue?

Is Goldsboro trying to catch up with Durham and Fyetteville in the numbers of shootings and other violent crimes? It's getting to the point that it isn't safe anywhere anymore. I just wonder how long it will be before the violence spreads to the rural areas and outside the city limits into the country?

I live in Goldsboro. Yes there is some gang activity, just like everywhere else. It really isn't the hotbed of gangs everyone seems to think it is.

guilty of first-degree murder in the July 2008 shooting death of Joshua McCabe Bailey, 20.

Its how certain parents are raising them. That is the sad part. Maybe certain parents don't know how.

Again, loaded guns in the wrong hands. They think they are so bad with the loaded gun, but take it away and they are like 2 year olds. Too many young people have to much access in getting these illegal guns. I know they are not registered to have a gun. Where is the parents in all this? Do you know that your son has a loaded gun in your home? Its your home, check his room throughly and if you find it call the police and allow them to handle it.

Yeah the links I first put up here did not post so I just ask for folks to look his name up. There is a huge gang problem in this area but alot of the activity goes unreported.
